Our credits.

For our credits, we had many pictures of Scrabble pieces, on a fridge slowly moving into place to spell out our respective names as we'd taken them before. However, since we had been concentrating so hard on the editing of the our footage, we hadn't put the credits in and it was time to make it into a video. First, we opened up another Final Cut Express project and imported the photos. We saved it and exported it as a QuickTime file, which we then imported into our main project. We put an effect on the photos to change the lighting and make them scarier, as well as speeding up the video so the pieces fell into place quicker. We also had to reverse the footage, as when taking the photos we started with the name and moved outwards as it was easier to do, but this is not what we wanted for out final video. We then cut the names apart, and put them inbetween various clips in our sequence.

Editing the sound

When we were editing our sound, we experimented with many different styles. We thought about doing contrapuntal sound, but after trying this we realized it detracted from the serious issues in our sequence. We then went about producing a sadder soundtrack, which was more thriller-like and we felt fit well.

Finishing the editing

After we cut down the lengthy shots we'd taken of the young girls into faster paced montages, we managed to get our sequence down to under two minutes. The majority of our following lessons were spent editing, but as we had a plan in mind, we felt that all four of us weren't needed. We worked side by side on two computers for a couple of lessons, editing on one and exploring the copyright free music on GarageBand on the other, familiarising ourselves with the program and having a go at creating the right sound for our sequence.

Group Meeting #6

We finished cutting out footage into manageable shots and also began to roughly order it on our timeline. We did this editing as we went along, so we could cut together different shots in the same scene and reduce the amount of footage on our timeline more quickly, as it totaled over 8 minutes. We also began thinking of sound effects and the moods of music we would need for each different part of our sequence.

Group Meeting #5

This was our first post-shooting meeting and it was time to think about editing. A lot of our time was spent setting up our project on Final Cut Express, our editing program, and uploading our footage into the project safely. Whilst this was happening on one computer, we used others to update our individual blogs so no time was wasted. We then began to roughly cut our footage down into the shots we needed as we had an enormous amount of footage and this made it more manageable.
